  5. TAMS II Update

tams II

The Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS II) provides funding for seven measures for on-farm investments.  TAMS II provide farmers with grant aid to improve and/or build a specific range of farm buildings or purchase equipment that may benefit their farm businesses. The pictured shows new milking facilities constructed in Co. Meath using TAMS II funding.

Farmers are reminded that if they have an existing approval under TAMS, they should check the relevant dates on their approval letters and ensure that payment claims are submitted before the relevant deadline. Claims can be submitted to the online system as soon as the approved work is completed. This will allow the prompt payment of claims.

TAMS II is currently in its 17th tranche, which will close for applications on 24th April 2020. Details of further tranche dates will be made available on the Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine (DAFM) website.

DAFM has indicated that payments made under the TAMS II scheme have now exceeded €196 million and that payments are being issued on an ongoing basis. The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine has also encouraged all approved applicants who have completed their approved works to submit an application for payment without delay to ensure that payments can issue to them promptly. Up to 10 February 2020, 33,895 applications have been submitted to the DAFM under the scheme.
