  5. LEADER-funded Community Hub Project...

The Sligo Centre for Independent Living (SCIL) was set up in 1996 with the aim of promoting maximum independence for all with physical disabilities, and to support their inclusion within their communities.

This project aimed to address the issues of inclusion and integration for their members directly by developing a community hub to create a space for all members of the community to meet and engage.

With the help of LEADER funding, a fully accessible hub was developed with a range of spaces for people to engage in a whole host of activities. This community hub is the first of its kind in Ireland and is named Number 45. It is located on High Street in the heart of Sligo town.
