Renewable Electricity Support Scheme

The recent announcement of Ireland’s first Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS) on 2nd December 2019 by the Irish Government has the potential to positively contribute to the uptake and success of the ‘Development of Renewable Energy’ sub-theme of the LEADER Programme 2014-2020.

The Renewable Electricity Support scheme, still in its early stages, will provide much needed support to renewable electricity projects in Ireland. It aims to deliver a broad range of policy objectives, including, most importantly from a community-led LEADER perspective, ‘An Enabling Framework for Community Participation through the provision of pathways and supports for communities to participate in renewable energy projects’.
