The final call for funding applications under the LEADER Food Initiative was made on the 25th of May, by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue and Minister of State for Land Use and Biodiversity, Pippa Hackett.
Since the initial launch of the LEADER Food Initiative in May 2018, as part of Ireland’s Rural Development Programme, some 116 food and beverage businesses throughout rural Ireland have been approved for funding by the various Local Actions Groups (LAGs). This final €5 million fund will help artisan, micro and small food businesses to respond to the challenges posed by Brexit and COVID-19, while also supporting diversification in agriculture.
