The LEADER supported ‘Broadband 4 Our Community’ initiative, nominated by the NRN for this year’s European Network for Rural Development (ENRD) Rural Inspiration Awards (RIA) with Kilkenny LEADER Partnership, has been successfully shortlisted by a panel of European rural development experts.
RIA 2022 seeks to promote the importance of European youth to build a better future. In total, the ENRD received 111 entries from 24 Member States across four thematic categories: Green Futures, Digital Futures, Resilient Futures, and Socially Inclusive and Innovative Futures.
Broadband 4 Our Community has been selected as a finalist in the Digital Futures category. Formed by the community, this social enterprise company has developed a future proofed ‘fibre to the premises’ (FTTP) broadband network in the Piltown/Fiddown area of Co. Kilkenny.
