On the 3rd of February, the European Commission Representation in Ireland published and launched the ‘Diversity Journal’, a booklet showcasing a diverse range of inspiring stories of how individuals, communities, organisations, and local and national authorities have worked with the EU to make Ireland a more open, equal and diverse society. Featured on page 13 of the booklet is a short NRN case study on the Sligo Centre for Independent Living (SCIL).
The Centre, set up in 1996 to promote maximum independence for people with disabilities and to support their inclusion and empowerment within their communities, recently established a community hub called Number 45, with LEADER support, which provides a space for all members of the community to meet and engage.
