Since 1991, the LEADER Programme has been the mainstay of rural community development in Ireland and across the EU, providing local actors with the necessary resources and support to enable them to actively engage and direct the local development of their area.
A European Network for Rural Development (ENRD) LEADER Thematic Group (TG) entitled ‘Making the seven LEADER principles work in practice for all LAGs under the CAP Strategic Plans’, was set up earlier this year to facilitate discussion and exchanges for a common understanding of each of the seven LEADER principles and to share relevant Member State experiences related to the practical implementation of these principles.
Dr Shane Conway of the National Rural Network (NRN) was invited to speak about the principles of Networking and Cooperation during the second meeting of this TG, held via Zoom on the 24th of May 2022. A synopsis of this discussion is featured in a report published by the ENRD highlighting the key points from this LEADER TG meeting. You can view this report here.
The full agenda and a range of presentations from the event are also available on the ENRD website here.
