  7. Musical Development & Rebranding...

Castletown Accordion Orchestra was established in 1981 in Navan, Co. Meath but has since relocated to Mullagh in Co. Cavan, a location where the majority of its youth members are based. To reflect these changes, LEADER supported the Castletown Accordion Orchestra to re-brand itself as the Accora Orchestra a name which is derived from the first five letters of accordion and is also a play on ‘chara’, ‘a chairde’ and a ‘chorus’ reflecting the orchestras ethos.

LEADER also supported the newly named Accora Orchestra to invest in high quality musical instruments and equipment which has helped the orchestras to enhance their overall sound quality and enable them to conduct outdoor performances. Funding was also utilised to purchase computer equipment which has allowed the Accora Orchestra to streamline their administrative affairs.

This project was supported as part of the LEADER Programme 2014-2020 under the theme of Social Inclusion and sub-theme of Rural Youth. The Local Action Group is Cavan Local Development Committee and the Implementing Partner is Cavan County Local Development.
