A joint initiative by Galway Rural Development (GRD) and the Health Service Executive (HSE) entitled ‘Seen but Not Herd’ held an event entitled ‘Seen but Not Herd: Your Farm, Your Voice, Your Community’ at Glenamaddy Community Centre on the 1st of November 2022. This event aimed to identify current challenges and opportunities for farmers in the Glenamaddy and Dunmore district in County Galway, and brought together the entire farming community in the area, ranging from active to retired farmers.
Recent research published by Dr Shane Conway, Researcher at the University of Galway’s Rural Studies Centre working on the NRN Project highlight that such events are now more important than ever in the context of increased levels of isolation in rural communities in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
