Recently we celebrated International Women’s Day on the 8th March 2023 which acknowledges the importance of women in the farming sector and rural communities.
EURACTIV had a look at this across 9 member states where senior and leadership roles of women in agriculture remain low. The report looks at Western Europe, Europe’s South, Visegrad Group and The Balkans, showing that women in agriculture varies so much from being one third of the workforce, but also growing in numbers as the years’ progress, however women in management roles in the agriculture sectors is still quite low.
