Rathcroghan EIP-AGRI Project

Petra Kock-Appelgren, Manager of the Farming Rathcroghan Project presented an overview of this EIP-AGRI Operational Group at the Rathcroghan Place Partnership Workshop that took place via Zoom on the 29th of July 2021, attended by the NRN team at NUI Galway.

This project promotes the continuation of farming in the Rathcroghan area by providing guidance and economic support for farmers to maintain and enhance the archaeological landscape, while providing co-benefits for a range of services – including biodiversity, carbon sequestration and water quality. This project also recently participated in Heritage Week 2021, with members of the Operational Group discussing the archaeology, mythology and the challenges of farming, such an archaeologically sensitive landscape to attendees during a guided farm walk of the Mucklaghs and Cloghannagorp in Rathcroghan Co. Roscommon.
