EIP-AGRI Participating Farmer’s Perspective Week

Jun 7, 2022 | EIP-AGRI News

Farmer’s Perspective Week

The NRN, in collaboration with the National Biodiversity Data Centre, ran an ‘EIP-AGRI Participating Farmer’s Perspective Week’ from May 16th – 20th as part of the month-long virtual Festival of Farmland Biodiversity.

The NRN’s EIP-AGRI Video Blogs (Vlogs) featuring farmers who are involved in EIP-AGRI projects throughout Ireland were showcased as part of this initiative. This good practice dissemination platform is just one of a number of multi-method communication strategies being implemented by the NRN to maximize the success of the objectives set out in Ireland’s Rural Development Programme (RDP) on behalf of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM).

The purpose of the Festival of Farmland Biodiversity was to encourage a more positive engagement around the topic of biodiversity and farmland, and to highlight some of the ways that farmers are working to support biodiversity on their farms. The rationale for such an approach is that if all farmers took some evidence-based actions to help biodiversity, no matter how small, the cumulative impact of these actions could address biodiversity loss in the Irish landscape.
