A series of training videos, commissioned for the Hen Harrier EIP-AGRI Project, will be made available on the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine website and Hen Harrier Project Vimeo page every Wednesday from the 21st of October 2020.
These videos address some of the key issues faced by farmers in the breeding Hen Harrier SPAs and outline solutions to many of them. They will cover the following topics:
- Grazing Infrastructure
- Protecting the Bog
- Land Management on the Hill
- Managing Cattle on the Hill
- Grassland Habitats
- Grassland Management
- Wild Bird Cover
- Rush Management
The first episode of these training videos on the topic of ‘Grazing Infrastructure’ was officially launched by the Minister of State for Land Use and Biodiversity at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Senator Pippa Hackett on October 21st, 2020. Further films, planned on Gorse Management, Heather Management, Animal Health, Wildfire Resilience, Controlled Burning, Minimising Nest Disturbance and Multi-purpose ponds, will be released from February 2021 onwards.
