Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS II) Update: Low Emission Slurry Spreading Scheme (LESS) Changes to Farmer Eligibility from Jan 15th, 2022

From April 15th, 2022, farmers farming at or above 170kgs/N per Ha will no longer be eligible to apply for Low-emission Slurry Spreading Equipment under TAMS II. LESS slurry application will become a mandatory action for this farming cohort.

Tranche 24 of TAMS II closes for applications on January 14th.

Tranche 24 of TAMS II will open for applications from January 15th, 2022, and applicants farming at or above 170kgs/N per hectare will not be eligible to apply for LESS equipment from this tranche onwards.

Nitrates Derogation applicants (as defined under Statutory Instruments 605 of 2017,  65 of 2018, 40 of 2020) are no longer eligible to apply and receive approval for Lower Emission Slurry Spreading equipment (LESS). Furthermore, applicants farming at or above 170 kgs/N per hectare (as defined under Statutory Instrument 529/2020) in the year of application or the preceding year will not be eligible for approval after April 15th, 2022.

TAMS II Scheme Payments Update (up to January 10th 2022)

  • There have been 45,842 approvals issued to farmers since the scheme’s inception. Of these,  25,848 payment applications have been submitted.
  • The total payment amount made to the scheme participants to date: €314.539m plus €11.513m Transitional Spend plus €.138m manual payments =  €326.190m.
