The Minister Charlie McConalogue announced today that 46,000 farmers across the country have secured places in the new agri-environment scheme ACRES. With that the applications process for 2023 Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) together with other area-based schemes is now OPEN.

This will begin the rollout of Ireland’s €9.8bn CAP Strategic Plan as farmers will start to receive BISS maps in the post in the coming days together with information and guides being posted soon. BISS applications will be made using the on-line system in place with a closing date of Monday 29th May 2023. Advance payment dates are expected to be in October 2023 with the balance payments expected to commence December 2023.

Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine confirm that all valid ACRES applications will be accepted into the scheme in 2023.

The Minister added that “Farmers have shown their desire to enhance the environmental sustainability of their enterprises through their enthusiasm for the CAP Strategic Plan’s flagship environmental programme. Farmers have shown that they are ready and willing to play their part backing those ambitions”.
