The NRN launched a poetry competition to celebrate over 50 years of the Ramsar Convention and World Wetlands Day on the 2nd of February 2023. This acrostic poetry competition was targeted at children between the ages of 4 and 12.
Young people were invited to get creative and write an acrostic poem – that is a poem in which certain letters of each line spells out a word – in this case the word “WETLANDS”.
We asked the children to focus on the theme of restoration of wetlands, peatlands, biodiversity, nature and habitats. The competition was promoted on our website and social media platforms and disseminated to NRN members. The closing date was extended to the 10th of March 2023 and winners to be selected from entries received. Details of the winners will be posted the NRN website and on social media in due course.
