Safe Farming in Challenging Times

Friday 26th October, 2018

Woodford Dolmen Hotel, Kilkenny Rd,

Mortarstown Upper, Carlow, R93 N207

Aim of the Conference

Farming in Ireland, within the EU and across the world is identified as one of the most challenging workplaces in terms of protecting ones safety, health and welfare.

While some improvement and successes can be identified the rates of fatal injury and ill-health in Ireland remain disproportionately and unacceptably high. Agriculture, a sector making up approximately 6% of our working population, frequently accounts for up to 50% of workplace deaths. The conference aims to review current approaches to safety, health and welfare in farming and help shape future actions to improve health and safety within this important sector in these challenging times.

Who should attend?

All with an interest in the safety, health and welfare of farmers and farm families should attend, particularly those who can influence actions on the ground. Farmers, agricultural advisors, trainers, assessors, contractors, inspectors and those that shape policy.

Admission is free but a booking should be made with Teagasc Oakpark on (059) 9170200.

The Conference is run in association with the Farm Safety Partnership and is kindly sponsored by FBD Trust.
